One report involved a man balancing on the roof of his vehicle with a traffic cone

People throwing eggs and riding around on the top of vehicles are among a host of anti-social behaviour issues affecting a seafront car park, police have said.

Cleveland Police said there had been regular complaints about nuisance drivers in Redcar's Majuba car park.

Problems also included vehicles performing dangerous manoeuvres, horns blasting and deliberate backfiring, all into the early hours of the morning, a force spokeswoman said.

The force said it was working with the council to clamp down on such behaviour and penalty notices would be handed out to those responsible.

'Come for egg fight'

Nearby residents reported late night vehicle noise, such as stationery cars revving their engines, as an issue, the force said.

Other complaints included a man balancing on his car roof accompanied by a traffic cone, the spokeswoman said, for which a 20-year-old man was given a ticket as well as words of advice.

The following night, officers were called out after people from two vehicles were seen throwing eggs at each other and other cars.

All the drivers were spoken to by police with some freely admitting they'd come to the car park for an egg fight, the spokeswoman said.

Cleveland Police said such incidents were in breach of the local authority's public space protection order (PSPO), which could result in a £100 fixed penalty notice being issued.
