A public consultation has been launched in Jersey to explore the possibility of reducing the number of Catholic churches on the island.

In a statement on Monday, the Diocese of Portsmouth said the consultation had been launched to inform the future of the parish of its intentions.

It said the matter would "progress following the decision-making processes of the Catholic Church".

The consultation will run until 23 November.
