E-scooter trial resumes with new provider
- Published
E-scooters will return to Slough town centre on Tuesday after a previous scheme was scrapped.
Zipp Mobility will provide 300 e-scooters and 25 e-bikes after Slough Borough Council allowed a trial to restart.
A previous scheme, which was part of a wider national trial, ended in November 2022 when the authority could not renew a contract with previous operator Neuron Mobility UK.
Some people have raised concerns about safety but the vehicles will be monitored for misuse and have brake lights and a horn.
They will adhere to government regulations, including a speed limit of 15.5mph.
There are 22 areas currently undertaking e-scooters trials across the country, including Oxford and the Solent region.
For the purposes of the trial, that involves the Isle of Wight, Portsmouth and Southampton.
