A beachside pub destroyed in a fire thought to have been started by fault in a tumble drier is set to be rebuilt.

The fire took hold in the roof at the Osborne View on Hill Head Road, Fareham, on 22 February at about 02:30 GMT.

Hall & Woodhouse said it planned to rebuild a new pub on the site "broadly similar" to the old building costing £6.5m.

The brewery said it hoped to submit a planning application in the next six weeks.

Ten fire crews tackled the blaze from the road and Hill Head beach and all staff left unharmed.

The new pub's proposals would see a four-storey flat-roofed building built on the site.

The original pub, which had been extended several times was over three and four storeys.

If it gets the go-ahead the pub is expected to take a year to build with the re-opening in summer 2026.
