Emergency works are to be carried out on a traffic island under the A63 to lay a new road surface.
Hull City Council said the resurfacing works at the Brighton Street roundabout, near St Andrew's Quay Retail Park will start on Monday and are expected to take five nights to complete.
A road closure and diversion will be in place overnight from 19:00 to 06:00 GMT.
Mark Ieronimo from Hull City Council said: "Improving the condition of our road network is one of our key priorities, to ensure all carriageways remain safe and reliable for all users."
The authority said the work would address "urgent repairs" on the carriageway and would involve removing the damaged road surface to lay a new one.
Traffic from Brighton Street will be redirected via Daltry Street roundabout to head east on the A63 and reach St Andrew's Quay.
Road users leaving St Andrew's Quay for Hessle Road will be diverted to Priory Way, then back along the A63 westbound to Brighton Street.
Mr Ieronimo said: "We recognise that roadworks can be inconvenient, but by carrying out the work overnight, we're doing everything we can to keep disruption to a minimum."
