Car Hill Recycling Centre in Greasbrough will be closed for two days for maintenance work

Three of Rotherham's four household waste recycling centres will close on selected dates in November to allow for essential safety improvements.

The sites at Bramley, Rawmarsh and Greasbrough will shut to the public temporarily while worn line markings are removed and replaced.

The work is required to ensure safe traffic flow, according to Rotherham Council.

During the closures, staff from the affected locations will be redeployed to other recycling centres to help manage demand.

Lidget Lane in Bramley was closed on Tuesday as the work got under way.

Meanwhile, Warren Vale in Rawmarsh will close on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 November, and Car Hill in Greasbrough will close on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 November.

A report to Rotherham Council said that in previous years line-marking had been overlaid which resulted in a raised surface which will need removing prior to renewing.

In order to do this the Rawmarsh and Greasbrough sites will need to close for two consecutive days, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service

Each site will reopen as soon as the new markings have dried.

The council apologised for any inconvenience.
