The driver of a coach carrying 29 schoolchildren that ended up in a ditch has been released on bail following his arrest on suspicion of driving whist unfit through drink and/or drugs.

The coach crashed on the southbound carriageway of the A36 near the Ower roundabout and junction 2 of the M27 in Hampshire on Thursday at about 05:10 BST.

Of the 33 onboard the coach, which had travelled from the Bristol area, all 29 secondary school students were uninjured. One of four teachers suffered a minor leg injury.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said the 48-year-old from Hungerford, Berkshire, who suffered minor injuries, had been bailed until 24 December while investigations continue.
