Work has begun to repair significant damage to Stonehaven harbour.

An annual inspection earlier this year found a number of defects requiring urgent repair.

The work, which will also see the installation of better storm protection at the entrance to the inner harbour, is expected to take about a month.

Winter storm damage is also being repaired on the deck of the breakwater pier.

Aberdeenshire Council said the outer harbour was closed to all vessels during the work, while the breakwater was also fenced off.

However it said access to the Seafood Bothy will be maintained.
