Man arrested after fire in church courtyard

A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire in a church courtyard.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to Saint Marina Coptic Church, in Bristol, on Friday after fire officers alerted them.

The force said there had been some damage to an external part of the church building, and nobody was injured.

A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of arson, burglary and criminal damage, and he is currently in police custody.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service made police officers aware of the incident at about 10:20 BST.

Anyone who was in the area at the time or saw the incident is being asked to contact the police.
