Man dies hours after being stopped by police

A man who later died in hospital was found unresponsive on a major route three hours after being stopped and searched by police.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) said its officers had contact with the man at 01:30 BST in Bicester, Oxfordshire.

He was later found in Banbury Road in the town at 04:08 and was taken to hospital. The force said the death was being investigated as unexplained but not suspicious.

It has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

The man's next of kin had been informed, police added.
