Firefighters have extinguished a blaze affecting a garden and workshop which was started by a bonfire.

Six crews were called to Brightlingsea at about 21:00 BST on Tuesday.

Station Manager Jez Tuckwell, from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, said the bonfire had spread "out of control".

"If you are planning to have a bonfire, please make sure to set it up well away from anything it could set alight like trees, fences, sheds etc and please keep an eye on it at all times."
