Grant to support military children in Cornwall

A grant of £80,000 has been allocated to help support children under five from armed forces families in Cornwall.
Cornwall Council's Early Years Service said it would help nurseries and preschools with its new 'Armed Forces Children in Cornwall' project.
The support will offer training to "raise awareness of the unique needs of young children from the armed forces community" with focus on emotional wellbeing and resilience.
The money comes from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust, and the project will be delivered at nurseries and preschools close to military bases at RAF St Mawgan, RNAS Culdrose and HMS Raleigh.
Councillor Barbara Ellenbroek, the cabinet member for children and families, said it aimed to establish a stronger support network for those families.
She said: "It is fantastic news that our Early Years Service has managed to secure this grant, which will go towards providing greater support for children and families from the armed forces community.
"It is one of the council’s key priorities to make Cornwall a brilliant place to be a child and grow up, and that means making sure young people from every community are listened to, understood and supported in the right way."
