Man injured in Edinburgh firearms incident

A man has been treated in hospital after reports of a gun being fired in Edinburgh.

Police Scotland said officers were called to Hailesland Gardens in the Wester Hailes area at about 15:40.

A 23-year-old man was treated in hospital for injuries to his arm but they are not thought to be life-threatening. No-one else was injured.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident but was released on Friday pending further inquiries.

Specialist firearms officers were among those sent to the scene as a search was carried out.

Police said they would be maintaining a presence in the area.
