A man has been charged with murder after a woman died in Sandwell.

Harminder Mattu, 50, is accused of killing Paramjit Kaur, 46, who was found dead at a property on Monday morning.

Ms Kaur, who was discovered in Swan Crescent, Oldbury, had suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, West Midlands Police said.

Mr Mattu is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, following what Ms Kaur's family described as the "heartbreaking" news of her death.

In a tribute, her family said: "A kind, hardworking and dearly loved daughter, sister and friend, she brought warmth to everyone around her.

"Her loss leaves us in profound sorrow, but her memory will forever live in our hearts."

A police spokesperson said officers would be carrying out additional patrols in the area to reassure and support the community over the coming days.
