Islamic State suspect appears in court

A man has appeared in court, charged with belonging to the Islamic State group.

Musa Abdrabba, 23, from Worcester, is also charged with professing to belong to the proscribed terrorist organisation in August 2023.

He appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from HMP Hewell in Worcestershire for a preliminary hearing on Friday.

Abdrabba was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on 16 June for a plea hearing.

Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb set a provisional trial date of 1 September.
