An 18-year-old man is set to go on trial later this year after being charged with murdering a father-of-two who was stabbed.

Police said Leon Penman, 20, from Bedford, died after an incident in Riverfield Drive, Bedford, on 24 May 2024.

Jacob Zuco, of Kimble Drive, Bedford, has denied murder and a trial is due to begin at Luton Crown Court on 24 March.

A judge oversaw a pre-trial hearing at Luton Crown Court on Monday.

Mr Zuco, who has been remanded in custody, appeared at Monday's hearing via an online prison link.

Relatives had paid tribute to Mr Penman following his death.

They said, in a statement released by police, that Mr Penman was a "loving father to two beautiful daughters" and would be "sadly missed".
