Major route to shut for diseased trees' removal
- Published
A major Shropshire route will be closed in February to enable a series of diseased ash trees to be cut down.
The A5 Watling Street, Shifnal, will be shut during the day, from 10 to 21 February, for work to remove the trees affected by ash dieback disease.
The fungal disease causes leaves to develop dark patches in the summer, crown thinning and changes in the colour of bark.
Work is expected to be carried out from 09:30 GMT to 16:00, but signed diversions will be in place.
During the work, access to the works area will be restricted to local residents who live in the area, businesses located within the closure and emergency vehicles.
