Another arrest has been made after an 88-year-old man was badly injured in an attack in Evesham.

Officers were called to Murcot Turn in Broadway, Evesham, at about 21:35 BST on Sunday.

The pensioner was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but has since been released on bail, while a second man in his 40s was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Detective Inspector Mark Davidson thanked the public for their "patience and co-operation over the last couple of days while we've been carrying out our enquiries".

He added while the investigation is at an early stage, the force were "not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and there's no threat to the wider community".
