A charity is offering vulnerable people a lifeline over Christmas with free hot food and cheer.

Christmas Care is offering support for people facing homelessness, hunger or isolation in Swindon from Tuesday to Friday.

The charity has been providing food and care for hundreds of people over the festive period since 1988.

John Jensen, of Christmas Care, said: "We are there to provide food, warmth, safety and companionship."

Christmas Care says it is looking for more volunteers to make the project possible, and also needs donations of food, drinks and festive treats.

Guests will be able to have a full English breakfast, a hot home-cooked lunch and an early evening snack at the charity's base at The Haven Day Centre, in Queen's Drive.

Mr Jensen said: "Christmas can be a lonely time, especially for those who are homeless or who do not have friends or family nearby."

He added: "We rely on the amazing, generous support of Swindon people.

"We appreciate anyone who can offer some time to make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate."
