A heavily pregnant woman was subjected to a “frightening” assault during a road rage incident in Hereford.

The victim was attacked at 15:30 GMT on Friday while waiting in a car with her son at a junction in Ross Road.

Police said an “irate” driver behind her had started beeping before he got out of his vehicle and started banging on her window.

The woman tried to get out of her car, but the man kicked the open door multiple times, bruising her leg and denting the bodywork, before driving off.

West Mercia Police described the man as white, possibly aged in his late 50s, of stocky build and with dark hair and a grey beard.

He was also wearing glasses and dark coloured clothing.

'Frightening ordeal'

The suspect's car is a black Vauxhall Insignia with part of the number plate reading VU12.

Officers said there had been a woman in the front passenger seat wearing leopard print clothing.

PC Melanie Davies said: “The victim here is heavily pregnant and her young son was in the vehicle at the time, so this was a frightening ordeal for them both.”

Police have started an investigation and witnesses are encouraged to get in touch.
