Girl flown to hospital after three-vehicle crash

An 11-year-old girl was flown by air ambulance to hospital following a three-vehicle crash in the Western Isles.

Two women - aged 23 and 36 - were also taken to hospital by ambulance after the collision involving two cars and a tanker on the A857 on Lewis on Thursday.

Police said there were no life-threatening injuries, but have appealed for witnesses to the crash which happened at about 16:20.

The road was closed for about five hours to allow for an investigation.

The injured were taken to Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway.

Sgt Gary Muir said: “Our inquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who can help to get in touch, external.

“If you were in the area at the time and have information, including dash-cam, that could assist with our investigation then please make contact with us.”
