Man arrested after woman stabbed in Scarborough

A woman has been treated in hospital after being stabbed in the abdomen.

Emergency services were called to New Queen Street in Scarborough at about 15:40 on Wednesday following the attack.

The woman, in her 20s, was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.

North Yorkshire Police said a man, in his 30s, had been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, criminal damage and using threatening and abusive words and behaviour.

A force spokesperson said it was believed the victim and the suspect were known to each other.

Any witnesses to the incident have been asked to contact police.
