Police name driver found dead in water after crash

A man found dead in a car which had crashed into water in the Orkney island of Hoy has been named.

A red Volkswagen Golf was recovered from Myre Bay after emergency services were alerted on 20 February.

The occupant, Stephen Seymour-Clancy, 79, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Scotland said the incident was being treated as a fatal crash.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances, and that a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Sgt Ewan Calder said: "Our thoughts are with Mr Seymour-Clancy's family and friends at this difficult time and we'll continue to do all we can to support them.

"The incident is being treated as a fatal crash and I'd appeal to anyone who has information, and has not already spoken to police, to get in touch, external."
