A man has been charged over the murder of a popular radio DJ from London.

Mehmet Koray Alpergin was kidnapped in central London last October.

The 43-year-old's body was found dumped in an Essex woodland, near an industrial estate in Loughton.

Dylan Weatherly, 20, of no fixed address, is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates' Court on Thursday, the Metropolitan Police said.

The suspect has also been charged with the kidnap and false imprisonment of Mr Koray and a 33-year-old woman.

Mr Alpergin, who was originally from Turkish-controlled northern Cyprus, was a well-known figure in the British Turkish community and owned a Turkish language radio station in London, Bizim FM.
