A baby in a pushchair has been hit by a missile, say police investigating reports of young people throwing items onto a road.

North Wales Police said it was lucky the infant was not hurt, but vehicles have been damaged near Segontium, a Roman fort on the A4085 in Caernarfon, Gwynedd.

The force published dashcam footage, external from one person whose car was hit that appears to show a missile being thrown from behind a stone wall.

Police said officers will be speaking to the families of 14 young people, between the ages of nine and 15.

"The recent behaviour in Caernarfon is having a serious impact on residents and is putting community members at risk," said PC Jordan Jones.

"Luckily, the baby did not sustain any injuries, but this could have been a different story."

He said the young people's parents would be spoken to and information passed to "partner agencies".

"Criminalising young people is a last resort but if incidents continue to escalate, we will need to take formal action," he added.

"I would urge parents and carers to support us by speaking to your children about where they are going in the evenings and the consequences that anti-social behaviour can have."
