Pedestrian dies and man arrested after A-road crash

A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car on an A-road in Gloucestershire.

Emergency services were called to the A4136 near Staunton in the Forest of Dean just before 23:00 BST on Friday, Gloucestershire Police said.

A man in his 50s was declared dead at the scene, while the driver of the vehicle was taken to hospital and has since been discharged.

A man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has been bailed while enquiries continue, police said.

Road closures that were in place around the scene of the crash have now been lifted.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant dashcam footage to contact them.
