Grade II listed building damaged in overnight fire

Crews continued to dampen hotspots down until 08:00 GMT

Firefighters from 10 different stations tackled a blaze at a Grade II listed building in the early hours of the morning.

Crews were called to Frogs Hall on Colethorpe Lane in Barrow near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, at 23:14 GMT on Thursday.

Three occupants were accounted for, and throughout the night, crews worked with cordons in place due to the risk of the building collapsing.

A stop was called at 03:24, but crews continued to extinguish hotspots until 08:00.

Crews from Bury St Edmunds, Ixworth, Haverhill, Wickhambrook, Sudbury, Newmarket, Woodbridge, Ipswich Princes Street, Hadleigh and Mildenhall were called.

Due to the scale of the fire, it had to be sectioned into four areas to make it easier to tackle.

Firefighters made use of jets and an aerial ladder and drew additional water from moats next to the property.

UK Power Networks isolated power to the property, and the Environment Agency was informed about potential runoff into the moats.

Once the fire was out, firefighters entered the property to salvage as many of the homeowners' items as possible.
