An 85-year-old man who was killed when he was hit by a car had a "very loving" personality and was "passionate about helping others", his family have said.
Derek Wick was struck by a Honda HR-V in Colne, Lancashire at about 11:10 BST on Thursday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lancashire Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with footage of the crash, at the junction of New Market Street and Hartley Street, to come forward.
Paying tribute, Mr Wick's family said he "loved to spend as much time as possible with the grandchildren".
'Sadly missed'
“Derek was very loving, but a quiet man. Derek particularly really enjoyed being a grandad, and a great grandad," they said.
The statement added that Mr Wick's death had "left a huge hole in the lives of his family and friends".
Originally from London, Mr Wick moved to Colne three years ago with his wife, June, who he had been married to for 56 years.
He was a father of two sons, Adam and Howard, a grandfather-of-four and great-grandfather of one, and also a loving brother and friend, his family said.
After retiring at 80 from his chartered accountant role, Mr Wick volunteered at Burnley Court and at the Citizens Advice Bureau.
His family said: "Religion was important to Derek; he was a Christian who loved his church and had many friends there.
"Derek loved walking very much and walked in Alkincoats park every day.
"Everyone is devastated by the loss, and he will be very sadly missed by all who knew him.”
Lancashire Police said the driver remained at the scene and no arrests were made.
