A recycling centre has reopened following a controlled explosion.

The discovery of "an item" at Fosse Cross Household Recycling Centre near Cirencester was reported to police at about 10.15 BST on Wednesday.

Police put a safety cordon in place after the discovery, and the British Army confirmed that the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended.

"A container was found and it was destroyed in situ," an army spokesperson told the BBC.
