Arrest made after woman suffers serious head injury

A 64-year-old man has been arrested after a woman sustained a serious head injury in a town centre.
Police were called to Montpellier Walk in Cheltenham at about 00:05 BST on Friday with reports that a woman had been found with a head injury near Rotunda Terrace.
She was taken to hospital and is in a serious but stable condition. A cordon has been put in place at the site and police have appealed for witnesses.
A man from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm in connection with the incident and remains in custody for questioning.
