A teenager who died after being hit by a car in Lichfield has been described by his family as a caring boy who loved football and Formula 1.

Thomas Collett, 13, was a pedestrian when he was hit by a Nissan Qashqai at about 18:30 BST on Friday, police said. He died a short time later.

The driver is supporting the investigation, Staffordshire Police said.

His family described him as cheeky, witty and clever.

In a tribute, they said: "We are going to miss you more than you could ever imagine. God really does take the best ones first, I hope you know how loved you were and how your memory of everyone and everything you loved will live on inside of us forever."

They added that his love of football, Formula 1, and family was "completely unmatched".

"Your personality shone through everything you did, from playing football, to your eating habits and wind ups," they said.
