A murder investigation is under way after a 46-year-old man died in Lincoln, police said.

Lincolnshire Police said the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head and body on Friday evening, and died on Sunday evening.

Officers said they were focusing their investigations on Frank Swaby Court, where they believe an assault took place between 12:00 BST and 16:00 on Friday.

Seven people have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody, the force said.

Three men, aged 31, 32, and 33, and a 28-year-old woman - were arrested on Friday.

Two men, aged 21 and 36, and a woman, 32, were arrested on Sunday.

Police said they believed the people they were questioning and the victim were known to one another.

Appealing directly to the public for help, Det Insp Andy McWatt, leading the investigation, said: "We’re asking you to come forward with anything at all you think might help.

"We would rather you come to us with information you are unsure of than risk not mentioning it, no matter how small you think it might be.

"The smallest piece of information can make a big difference in an investigation, as we’d rather have information and not need it, than miss a key detail.”
