Schools allowed to increase capacity by one

Widford and Hunsdon primary schools will have a combined published admission number of 25

Two primary school sites will be allowed to increase the number of new pupils they can admit by one - each.

Hertfordshire County Council said that Widford School, which teaches pupils in Reception and key stage one, could increase its intake to nine.

Hunsdon, which takes pupils in key stage two, can increase the intake to 16.

A report put to councillors at a cabinet meeting on Monday said the increase allowed the federation which runs the schools to "best meet the expected level of demand".

Admission arrangements for various other schools, for September 2026, were also updated.

The Federation of Widford and Hunsdon JMI Schools was formed in September 2024.

It means the two schools - based near Ware - can share both sites, staff and governors.

"The increased published admission numbers also enable an optimised class teaching structure between the two schools," the council report said.
