A hub for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families has officially opened in York.
The SEND Central hub, located at Clifton Green Primary School, would provide support, information and signposted advice to individuals up to 25 years of age, according to City of York Council.
An Education, Health and Care Plan, or a formal diagnosis, was not required to access services, a spokesperson for the authority said.
Councillor Bob Webb, executive member for children, young people and education, said he hoped the centre would provide "a beacon of support for residents in York".
"Creating a hub for advice, information and support for children and young people with SEND, and their families, is such an important milestone for the city," he said.
Anyone with queries or concerns around SEND matters should visit the centre and take advantage of the available services, Webb added.
The new centre formed part of the Raise York network of family hubs, and would be "a key component of partnership work" in the council's SEND provision, according to the authority.
It would work alongside local health partners, including education, health, and social care services, the spokesperson said.
The hub was officially opened by Deputy Lord Mayor of York Margaret Wells and Martin Kelly, corporate director of children and education.
