A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a series of fatal attacks on swans and ducks.

Hertfordshire Police received reports of several swans being killed and birds being injured, external along the New River near Whit Hern Park in Cheshunt.

The force appealed for information last week, saying "acts of cruelty towards wildlife are not only deeply concerning, but are also criminal offences."

The teenager has been released on bail while investigations continue.
