A teenager who was accused of murdering his father after stabbing him has been cleared by a jury.

Ainsley Lowton, 18, previously admitted to killing James Lowton, 44, outside their home in Addison Street in Tibshelf, Derbyshire, on 28 May, but said he did so in self-defence and did not mean to kill him.

A jury at Derby Crown Court returned a verdict of not guilty to murder on Tuesday afternoon.

Mr Lowton has now been discharged from the court.
