The search for a missing man in the River Thames in Surrey has entered a fourth day.

Surrey Police is asking people not to share footage of the incident circulating on social media, to minimise distress to the man’s family.

A rowing boat capsized at Sunbury Lock, near Wheatleys Eyot, at about 08:50 BST on Friday.

Five people were rescued by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service, the coastguard and police, but one man in his 60s remains unaccounted for.

The rowing club involved said it was "saddened" by the incident

Surrey Police said specialist search officers were directing an "extended search" of the area, along with Surrey Search and Rescue and Kent Search and Rescue.

The force previously said it had extended its search parameters due to the "fast-flowing" nature of the river.

Anyone with footage of any part of the incident was asked to send it to Surrey Police for use in the investigation.

In a statement, Weybridge Rowing Club said a boat and its supporting coaching launch got into difficulty following "an on-water incident".

"We wish to thank all those who aided our crew, including bystanders, and are thankful for their continued efforts," the rowing club said.

"We are deeply saddened by this accident and our thoughts and best wishes go out to the friends and families of those affected. We are actively supporting all those affected."
