Flares will be fired from a ferry as part of a training exercise in the Channel Islands.

The Herm Travel Trident V will release the flares between 18:00 and 18:30 GMT on Wednesday.

VHF Channel 16 will broadcast a navigation warning at the start and end of the exercise, which will take place between Herm and Guernsey. The States of Guernsey said updates would also be available on social media.

It added the exercise was in preparation for a real emergency on the ferry service.
