Man jailed after police chase through busy streets

A man has been jailed after leading police on a "dangerous" pursuit where he narrowly avoided other vehicles and members of the public.
Christopher Foster was pulled over by police at a bus stop on the A41 in Rowton, Chester, in March 2023 before accelerating away at speed.
The 34-year-old's silver Vauxhall Astra was then captured by police, external being driven into the path of oncoming vehicles and mounting a kerb.
Foster, of Market Drayton in Shropshire, was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to dangerous driving, drug driving, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
Cheshire Police said the vehicle had driven through two different sets of red lights at a time when there was heavy traffic on the roads.
He later abandoned the vehicle and was caught by officers the same day.
The force said he could have easily injured himself or other members of the public.
"It is a miracle that he did not cause a serious collision," a spokesperson said.
Foster was also disqualified from driving for 45 months during the hearing at Chester Crown Court.
