Hidden river celebrated with immersive artwork

Only some of the river Malago is exposed, with much of it running underground

A hidden river which runs through south Bristol is being celebrated by the local community.
Bedminster residents came together to record the sounds of the river Malago for a piece of music created by composer Liam Taylor-West.
Called A River's Song, the music will be played at an immersive installation of light and sound hosted at Philip Street Chapel in Bedminster.
Mr Taylor-West said: "The river is not that obvious as it's either underground or down deep channels so the idea came about to draw attention to it in the hope that people might take a bit more care of it."
The composer, who has been involved in the project for the past four months, said it had been a "real pleasure" to work with the people of Bedminster and "hear their stories, their music and the songs they came up with".

The piece of music will be presented alongside a new light artwork, created with Bristol-based artist Zoe Broome.
The exhibition will be open later from 17:00 BST to 20:00 and on Saturday from 12:00 to 18:00.
The piece of music will also be featured on an audio walk experience on Saturday and Sunday as part of the Art on the Hill trail.
