A seven-year-old girl who died following a crash involving two vehicles near Lincoln has been named by police.

Elsie Gascoigne suffered serious injuries in a collision between a blue Kia and a white Citroen Relay on the B1202 Metheringham Heath Lane, at about 17:45 GMT on Friday.

She was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital, but sadly died shortly before 04:30 on Saturday, Lincolnshire Police said.

Another person sustained serious injuries in the crash and two others had minor injuries, the force added.

A police spokesperson said: "Elsie's family, who live in Metheringham, are being supported by specially trained officers and we ask that members of the public continue to respect their privacy at this incredibly difficult time."

The force has appealed for any witnesses or people with dashcam footage around the time of the incident to contact them.
