Winter sailings between the Isle of Man and Liverpool are set to return after delayed repair works to the Liverpool ferry terminal have been completed.

Sailings undertaken by the Manx ferry firm's flagship vessel Manxman, are set to go ahead on both Saturday and Sunday.

Planned weekend Isle of Man Steam Packet Company sailings to Liverpool had been re-routed to Heysham for almost a month while repair works were carried out to the Manx government-owned Liverpool terminal.

Contractors had initially asked for more time to carry out the repairs to the fenders at the terminal.

However, that was further pushed back after adverse weather during a preceding job in Wales meant a barge with a crane - needed to make repairs to the berth at Liverpool - could not be obtained by the contractor.

Saturday's 08:00 GMT crossing to Liverpool and the 19:00 return, along with Sunday's 08:00 sailing from Douglas and its 14:00 return are expected to go ahead.

The Steam Packet's winter weekend sailings between the island and Liverpool by Manxman had originally been due to start at the beginning of November.
