A fire service has issued a warning after it was called to reports of a fire that turned out to be a 'fumigation bomb'.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) attended a property in Old Town, Swindon, on Friday afternoon, with smoke coming from windows.

But it said that after investigation it turned out to be a pest control smoke bomb being released in the premises.

The service said it is getting more emergency calls about these and urged people to use professional companies or seek proper advice before using fumigation bombs.

A spokesperson for the service added that if a fumigation bomb is needed, people should also tell their neighbours, the service and put a note on the door.

They added that the "chemicals involved could be harmful, so think of your personal safety and the safety of others around you".
