Plans have been unveiled for a new, large-scale solar power farm.

RWE, a solar and battery energy storage developer, wants to build the facility along the A595 between Little Clifton and Branthwaite, near Workington in Cumbria.

The company is holding consultation events to hear feedback from the community and tap into local knowledge.

An RWE spokesman said feedback was "integral" to the development of Lostrigg Solar Farm to ensure proposals "respect the concerns of the local community".

The four consultation events, external will be held in Bridgefoot, Winscales, Dean and online and people can send their feedback until 23 October.

This is the first stage of the process, RWE said, and it hoped to submit an application in autumn 2025.

Lostrigg Solar is classified as a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project, meaning approval would be down to the government's Planning Inspectorate rather than the local council.

RWE said it expected the process to obtain permission, known as a Development Consent Order, to take two to three years, with construction starting in spring 2027.
