Hairdressers help set new styling world record

Two hairdressers from Jersey have entered the Guinness book of world records after taking part in the world’s largest styling session.
Claudia Nunes from Inch Studio and Ana Franco from Anacabello were among about 1,200 stylists taking part in the challenge on the Spanish island of Ibiza.
The pair joined stylists from across the globe to work on hundreds of volunteers who acted as models during the event on Tuesday.
Mrs Franco said: “It was quite unbelievable, to be honest, because there were so many of us and it was such a great vibe.”
"We were only styling so no cutting or colouring," she said.
"You could end up from straight hair to curly hair, or hair down to hair up, so it wasn’t anything too permanent."
'Many strict rules'
The Paseo de Vara de Rey, a square in Ibiza Town, was transformed into an outdoor salon for the challenge, which was organised by an Italian hair products brand.
Mrs Nunes said the record set was for the most amount of people styling hair simultaneously.
“Everyone had to start at the same time and do hair for ten minutes exactly," she said.
“It was 600 hairdressers in total that entered and only 478 made the cut because there were so many strict rules around it.”
'Getting certificates'
Mrs Nunes believes a call for models had been put out on local media, meaning more than expected turned up.
"We all ended up doing more than one model, but only the first model counted for the record," she said.
"So we all did a few extra just to say thank you to them for coming."
Guinness World Record judges announced the participants had successfully achieved the feat with a total of 478 people styling hair simultaneously.
Both women said they would be getting certificates and putting them on display in their salons.
