A man has been charged with attempted murder after a person was left badly injured following an alleged assault on an Isle of Man beach, police have said.

Isle of Man Constabulary said Taylor Murphy, 19, had also been charged with two counts of robbery, burglary and "other acquisitive crimes".

Police were called at about 16:00 BST on Monday after reports of a man with serious injuries on Cornaa Beach in Maughold.

The man, from Ramsey, went on to receive hospital treatment in the UK, the force said.

The force has urged people to "refrain from speculation and allow criminal justice processes, which have now commenced, to be followed to their conclusion".
