An 18-year-old man has appeared in court after a man was seriously hurt in a Cornish town.

Devon and Cornwall Police said Oliver Palmer, from Trenant Road in Looe, had been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a man was hit on the head with a bottle.

The incident took place in the area of Fore Street, Looe, at about 00:35 BST on Sunday 13 July. Police said the victim, a local man, remained in hospital.

Mr Palmer appeared at Bodmin Magistrates' Court on Monday, where he was remanded on conditional bail and told to attend a hearing at Truro Crown Court on 15 August.
