Part of a motorway was closed after reports a lorry overturned in a collision.

National Highways said the M40 was shut at about 08:15 BST heading southbound between junction six for Watlington, Oxfordshire, and junction five for Stokenchurch, Buckinghamshire.

It added that a "substantial fuel spillage" was also reported and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue was on the scene.

The traffic information service INRIX reported the collision involved an overturned lorry.

A diversion was in place via the A40 and drivers were advised to instead use the M1 where possible.

National Highways expected the incident to be cleared by 15:30.
