Storage yard noise giving locals 'little respite'

Twenty containers have been set up at the site which planners say are attracting anti-social activity late at night

Planners have refused a business permission to keep a 20-container storage facility in Bradford due to "anti-social activities" giving nearby residents "little respite".
The facility is at the end of a narrow, 170-metre-long dirt track in Little Horton and is in "an extremely poor condition" and one that vehicles "will struggle to safely use", council planners said.
The application for the site behind Dovesdale Road and Carr Bottom Road was submitted by Danny Devlin in June.
It has now been refused by Bradford Council, with planners saying there were several unanswered questions over the business.
Work to the site, the demolition of a number of garages and the creation of a 'to-rent' storage facility with 20 containers, has already been completed, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Access to the site is along a narrow dirt track which planners said was not safe to use
One objector claimed the land had been used as a storage site for about two years.
Twenty metal containers that can be rented for storage are laid out on the site and Bradford Council has an open enforcement case over the works.
Refusing the application, planners said: "The application form states the proposed use has no employees.
"Therefore it is unclear how the storage facility is managed, staffed and operates, how people/customers gain access into the site or if the containers are being rented and used for residential or commercial storage purposes."
They added that late operating hours "give little respite to the occupants within the vicinity of the site from noise and activity within the site".
The planners said it was clear the stipulated hours were not being followed with people visiting the units late at night and into the early hours with anti-social activities also allegedly taking place.
