A 16-year-old girl was bitten by a dog in a park in South Yorkshire, prompting a witness appeal.

The black dog, thought to be a German Shepherd, was off the lead in Rotherham when it attacked the teenager at 16:30 BST on 1 October, South Yorkshire Police said.

The teenager was left with puncture wounds to both her arm and leg after the incident in Alexandra Park, Swallownest.

Police said the man walking the dog did not stop at the scene to help, with the force appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
